Using GIS and Cartography to Support Wetlands Science Presented by: Micha Salomon and Chuck Striplen, San Francisco Estuary Institute
For about two decades, the San Francisco Estuary Institute has been mapping historical and contemporary wetlands. We've published maps in a variety of formats for scientific reports, posters, published books, and the web. This presentation will focus on some of the recent cartographic work done in the North Bay, including historical and contemporary wetland and stream mapping in the Laguna de Santa Rosa and Mark West Creek, as well as the Napa Historical Ecology Atlas (2012) published by UC Press. We'll also demonstrate regional and statewide web mapping efforts including EcoAtlas.org and Caltsheets.org.
